The LX provides a host of safety features within Lexus Safety System+ to help provide heightened protection. This suite of standard active safety equipment is the most comprehensive safety system ever included in the LX.

Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) and Monitor (MTM)

Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) and Monitor (MTM)

A new Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) system enhances off-road capability, and control over varied landscapes — including dirt, sand, mud, deep snow and rock. The Lexus-first Auto mode can select the optimum driving mode using sensors combined with the driver’s inputs. The Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) is designed for off-road use, to assist drivers through a variety of driving conditions. The upper 12.3-inch display shows a variety of camera views from around and under the vehicle to keep the driver informed. The lower 7.0-inch touch display shows the climate control and serves as a driving support screen for MTS.⁵

Pre-Collision System (PCS)

Pre-Collision System (PCS)

The Pre-Collision System (PCS) is designed to determine if impact is imminent and help reduce impact speed and damage in certain frontal collisions. Intersection Assistance can help avoid collisions when there is a crossing vehicle or when turning right. Should it detect a potential frontal collision, the system is designed to provide steering assistance and can help automatically brake to mitigate or avoid a collision when driving at low speeds (<15km/h).⁵

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Change lanes with confidence. The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) is designed to detect and warn you of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes. When the vehicle is parked, Standstill BSM is designed to support collision avoidance by detecting approaching vehicles, helping to notify the passengers if they’re about to open doors into a potential hazard.⁵

Controlled Braking System

When driving down steep descents, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) automatically controls the pressure of the brakes to help maintain a constant speed — contributing to excellent handling stability. Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) helps to increase driver confidence when ascending hills. HAC helps maintain the vehicle’s position by applying the brakes to all four wheels until the vehicle begins moving forward. The electronically controlled brake system setup assists with linear application of brake force and a better braking feel.⁵

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Road Sign Assist (RSA)

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Road Sign Assist (RSA)

In addition to maintaining a constant speed, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) uses the radar and camera sensors to detect a vehicle driving ahead and is designed to help the driver maintain an appropriate distance between vehicles. The vehicle is capable of low speed following which includes stop-start driving at speeds between 0 and approximately 30km/h. While DRCC is in use, Road Sign Assist (RSA - Speed Signs Only) uses a built-in camera to help provide speed limit information in the instrument panel.⁵

Lane Trace Assist (LTA)

Lane Trace Assist (LTA)

When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled, LTA monitors visible lane markings or the path of the preceding vehicle. LTA is designed to provide steering assistance to help keep the vehicle centred in the lane. Designed for convenience, the system can be used in traffic and on highways with gradual curves. LTA is available on all models and grades. Additionally, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is designed to alert the driver if they veer from the safety of their lane.⁵

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

The Adaptive High-Beam System (AHS) uses LED lamps and a high-speed rotating mirror to finely adjust the illuminated and shaded areas. This improves visibility of the road ahead while reducing glare for other drivers.⁵

Parking Support Brake (PKSB) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA)

The Parking Support Brake (PKSB) is designed to detect objects around the vehicle and apply braking force to help reduce the chance of a collision. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) system may detect vehicles approaching from the side at the rear and is designed to alert the driver.⁵
